Details

Discover the true essence of Flores Island on this immersive 6-day, 5-night overland expedition that journeys deep into the island’s diverse landscapes, ancient cultures, and untouched beauty. From the west coast town of Labuan Bajo to the eastern towns of Ende or Maumere (or in reverse), this adventure showcases the best of Flores—beyond the famous Komodo dragons.

Your journey begins in Labuan Bajo, where you'll travel inland through the emerald highlands of Ruteng to see the otherworldly spider-web rice fields of Cancar and the fascinating Liang Bua Cave, home to the remains of the ancient Homo floresiensis, also known as the Flores Hobbit.

Continue east to Bajawa, the cultural heart of Flores, where you'll visit traditional villages like Bena and enjoy a soak in volcanic hot springs surrounded by lush landscapes. Then head north to Riung 17 Islands Marine Park, a hidden gem for snorkelers and nature lovers, where coral reefs, fruit bat colonies, and white-sand beaches await.

The journey culminates in the eastern region of Moni with an early morning hike to the summit of Mount Kelimutu, where you’ll witness a once-in-a-lifetime sunrise over three mystical crater lakes—each with a different hue.

Throughout the tour, enjoy insightful cultural encounters, scenic drives through remote villages, and curated stops that offer a deeper connection to Flores’ rich heritage and ecology.

Whether you're a nature enthusiast, a cultural explorer, or an off-the-beaten-path traveler, this well-paced itinerary offers the ultimate Flores overland experience—far from the crowds, and close to the island's heart.
